HRC should prioritize extending the mandate of the Sudan Fact-Finding Mission

The escalating conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continues to be devastating for civilians. Tens of thousands of people have been killed and many more injured. Over 15 million people have fled their homes, making Sudan the world’s largest displacement crisis. The humanitarian crisis is worsening and over 30 million people, two-thirds of the population, require humanitarian assistance.
Since the start of the conflict in April 2023, Amnesty has documented numerous human rights and humanitarian law violations in the country including indiscriminate and deliberate attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure.
