Amnesty International’s State of Human Rights Education 2024 presents the scope and impact of HRE initiatives, which reached more than three million learners across over 60 countries. With 61 percent of participants aged 12–24 and 60 percent women and girls, HRE strengthened youth leadership and advanced gender equity. Programmes focused on countering authoritarian practices, defending protest rights, advancing climate justice, and supporting refugee integration. In Guinea, “Grin de Thé” created culturally relevant youth dialogues on freedom of expression and association. In Ghana, regional leaders trained through HRE cascaded knowledge on protest rights to more than 1,000 people, catalysing grassroots advocacy. In Mongolia, the establishment of a Media Lawyers Network and campaigns reaching 130,000 people enhanced resilience against digital repression. In Greece, HRE fostered social cohesion by building bonds between refugee and local children through play-based learning. In West Africa, HRE programmes supported shifts in attitudes and practices around child marriage, while in Kenya, initiatives addressed school-based violence through rights-based approaches. The launch of the global HRE Resource Hub improved access to educational tools and cross-regional collaboration. Collectively, these initiatives demonstrate how HRE strengthens knowledge, empowers communities, and contributes to systemic and sustainable human rights change.
